On July 22, 2008 Ambassador Ghafari visited the Slovenian community in Cleveland, Ohio.
Hosted by Consul General Dr. Zvone Žigon, they started the morning with a visit to the newly opened Center for Slovenian Studies (CSS). The CSS will offer Slovene language classes
starting August 25th at Cleveland State University and Lakeland Community College. They plan
to expand the course offerings to include Slovenian cultural studies, history, and EU related classes.
The Ambassador and the Consul General then met with the Cleveland Business and Professional
Association. They shared lunch at Sterle’s Slovenian Country House Restaurant, where the
Ambassador discussed the opportunities for U.S. business investment in Slovenia. According to
Ambassador Ghafari: “Slovenia is a great investment environment!” He took questions from the
enthusiastic audience about everything from business to his plans to climb Mt. Triglav.
The Ambassador finished the day with a tour of the new Slovenian Museum and Archives and a
visit to the Slovenian National Home.
